Sugar Maker’s Breakfast

Conservation Halton invites you to join in a time-honoured celebration of spring through this unique pre-registered event! The Sugar Maker’s Breakfast begins with a hearty pancake breakfast by the woodstove followed by a wagon ride and tour of Mountsberg’s 150 year old sugar bush. Learn about the rich history of maple sugaring, how to identify different species of maples, and then try your hand at tapping a tree in the sugar bush and hanging your own bucket!
Each family will receive a bottle of fresh Ontario maple syrup to take home as a souvenir of their visit. Plan to stay all day to enjoy all the festivities in Maple Town, the family friendly barnyard, and renowned Mountsberg Raptor Centre! A Taste of Maple

Check out this remarkable celebration of the first harvest of the year – maple! Crawford Lake is excited to welcome Chef Johl Whiteduck Ringuette of Toronto’s NishDish Marketeria for A Taste of Maple 2020. Learn about Indigenous cuisines and how they tie to Indigenous ways of knowing and community. Chef Johl will also discuss the many Indigenous foods that have become staples in today’s diet, like maple! Learn how the team at NishDish Marketeria celebrates traditional food as medicine to nourish the spirit. Guests to this special event will also try samples of delicious NishDish creations including Bannock and Maple Syrup, Wild Rice and Wild Blueberry Pudding, and Three Sisters Stew!
