Milton Weekend Events – March 10-11, 2018

Trish Dorak • Mar 07, 2018

It’s hard to believe March break is already here!  If you aren’t travelling to enjoy somewhere warm during this school break we have some great events happening right here in town this weekend.

Indigo Kids Presents Steve Jenkins and Derek Walter

Join  Steve and Derek , parents of beloved social media phenomenon  Esther the Wonder Pig , as they read and sign copies of  The True Adventures of Esther the Wonder Pig  – a picture book with adorable illustrations and a message of love.

Paint a Pot – FREE Kids Workshop

Join in for Paint a Pot Saturdays from March 10th – March 25th @ 10am – 3pm. Drop into your local TERRA to participate at this FREE event.

Paint friendly clothing is recommended.

Maple Town

Mountsberg’s sugar bush has been producing maple magic for almost 150 years, and educating the public for more than 30 years! Approximately 600 trees are tapped during what could certainly be deemed the most Canadian of the seasons, where watery sap is transformed into sweet maple syrup in the Sugar Shanty.

See how sap is magically transformed into sweet, sticky syrup, and smell the fragrant steam rising from simmering kettles. Learn the secrets of making Maple Candy and taste FREE candy samples. Enjoy piping hot pancakes smothered in fresh maple syrup outdoors under our pavilion nestled in the woods. Take a guided wagon ride through the sugar bush and learn about the history of maple syrup. Climb, jump, and run in the Play Barn.

Sweet Water Season

Weekends, March Break and holidays – Visit the reconstructed Iroquoian Village and learn how maple syrup was discovered and used by Indigeous People as you take in an interactive (and edible!) Sweet Water demonstration. Nostalgia is served in the afternoon as staff demonstrate how to make taffy on snow. Try a tasting flight of different grades and types of syrup before heading to the gift shop to pick up a delicious souvenir. Kids will enjoy winning a prize for completing the maple themed discovery hunt!

Photography Workshop- Hilton Falls

 Cineplex Family Favourite – Minions

Saturday mornings at 11am is Cineplex Family Favourites. Watch a family favourite film each week for only $2.99. A portion of the proceeds goes towards supporting WE Charity. It’s a fun and affordable way to enjoy the weekend with your family!

Terra Winter Market

TERRA offers a fully enclosed and heated space for the market experience in both Hamilton and Milton locations on Saturday’s from January 13th – March 17th. The Winter Markets hosts over 70+ in Milton and 50+ vendors in Hamilton that will promote baked goods, produce, meats, cheeses and wines from neighbouring farms. The market will also host a series of artisans whom have crafted items for consumers and their homes.

TERRA decided to start the market in support of local business and farms to increase healthy lifestyles by providing the community with the necessary connection to local food producers over the winter months. The Winter Market will also provide social opportunities for people to connect with neighbours, friends and acquaintances in a comfortable and fun atmosphere.
